Black and White into Color!
by Draginbeard

Howdy folks,

Well tonight's page transitions from black and white to full color art. Just as Jolly is falling into full color, the rest of the strip is going to be painted up as well. The first few strips will be me trying to find a way to bring out the colors the way I like. I settled in to a method and color palette shortly after. Keeping in mind I am still 6 weeks ahead of what you are seeing now, I can say I am pretty happy with what I've got to show you.

Summer in the desert is starting to wind down, and I'm looking forward to winter. No snow, and easy rain. Yup, my kind of winter. Then comes Con season and I am looking forward to hitting Phoenix comicon again. This time I will have a few flyers to lay out and maybe talk with a few more creators and make some friends.

I got a chance to see the new Dark Knight Rises movie a few weeks back. I liked it, although the sound system at the AMC  theater I went to distorted Banes' voice even more than the mask. Still, it was pretty good. I prefer the 2nd movie still.

The other movie I had a chance to go see was the Total Recall remake. I thought they did a pretty decent job. I got a heavy Blade Runner/5th Element vibe off it. Since I love both those movies, this one is an easy decision when it gets released on DVD.

I've been working on the script for the second chapter, and tweaking pages with new roughs. The first chapter is going to run a little longer than the 35 pages I had first written. I have an idea that I want to add in towards the end of chapter one that I can use to good effect in the second chapter. I have a good feeling about what I'm doing now and where the comic is heading.

The story does have an ending, but we are a really long way from that point. I don't know what I will do after I get there. Maybe I will start another comic with new characters in a different setting, maybe I will just roll up new ones and stay in Scarlan. That's the beauty of all this, I get to do things my way!

Last piece of news, I am looking into taking a Photoshop class at Mesa Community College in October. I need to learn to work faster so I can stay ahead, and I know there is so much more I could be doing with this program that I simply do not know about.

That's about all that's doing on this end. Everyone have a great weekend!!
