One of the things I got to do during my break (besides draw a bunch of silly gamer cartoons) was to rethink my script a little.

Something I discovered was how bad I am at editing my story. I need to trim things so I can get a better pace and push the story forward.

I caught myself doing pages just because I had some snappy dialog I liked. Its fine if I want to do a page or two on bantering between characters, but if it doesn't move things along, I need to cut it in favor of what does.

Odd as this may sound, I almost enjoy it when I fail, it can be a wincing lesson to see where I need to improve, and forces me to keep thinking of the bigger picture.

If you're browsing around any of the comic sites he is on, give the dwarf a friendly vote =)

Remind me never to make a deal with a dragon. O_O

Funny thing about the deal that they are talking about. It was originally suggested by the player for his characters back story.

In some ways, you could say he plotted his own characters fathers death!

I think if all your friends are ghosts, you need new friends even if the previous ones aren't dumb.
Dodom 21st Apr 2014, 7:22 AM edit delete reply
But it won't be easy. Whenever you try to introduce your old and new friends, the new ones will say "I see dead people" and you really don't want lame jokes like that.

By this point, Jolly wouldn't even get the joke. He would be more like "Yeah, I see them too, doesn't everyone?"

We had a very Un-PC term in college when referring to editing your own work; Kill your babies. As artists/writers we'll always run into times where you have to cut things out that you really liked. Though I've always found if you don't use it for -this- part, somewhere down the line you might use it for -that- part, so keep it in the vault even if it never see's the light of day.
For what it's worth I thought all the dialogue here was all great, I can see why they are all buddies.
Draginbeard 21st Apr 2014, 4:44 PM edit delete reply
Yeah, Ive heard that term before, though it was for more extreme cases when you just wrap up the whole comic.

Not ready to do that yet, I will just try and edit better and maybe hold on to the stuff I cant easily use right now, for later.

The dragons in my head are kind if picky eaters. I don't think they would lick the goop off their feet.

I imagine they would wipe it up with a nice loaf of sour dough.

Sounds like deals with dragons is even more dangerous than deals with demons ;)

Well, if nothing else, Dragons are fairly abrupt with their closing costs.
