Jolly's last night in-game, and a giant spider see's him as lunch!

I remember the days I spent playing EverQuest, every solo battle with a mob that con'd in your range was an endurance test. It was like going 15 rounds every time. Kiting looked like a soccer match there was so much running!

Good times =)

This one goes out to my baby brother Jason, Happy birthday Jay!!

Nothing is exactly as it seems...but right now, Jolly is just glad to be back and seemingly not on Cizors menu...yet.

So that was a "Schrodinger's" portal, either random or not random until you jump?

That's a good enough indicator for me!

Wait, if you know that the cat is alive, then YOU are both alive and dead until the cat sees you!
Maybe a cat observing you will make you dead, in which case you better remain in a state of flux and avoid cats for as long as possible.
Maybe being both dead and alive gives you strange undead powers, and you should avoid cats, if only to keep those sweet powers longer!

I...I asked my cat about this, and now she is staring at me like I need to be committed! Stupid cat.

Thanks =)

I re-worked this page a couple times. At first I had rough sketched a little fight where Jolly walked up all sure of himself, and had the spider promptly beat his butt (I cant tell you how many times Ive actually done that very thing, and got my head handed to me!)

But to do it right, it would have taken a couple of pages and since I only update twice a week it would have slowed things down even more, so I went with a slightly beat up look with him bolting for the portal.

There is something going on, if you listen to the way the dragon talks, its defiantly up to something besides looking for its next meal.

I like the way you worked it out!
I like stories that move along, maybe I'm impatient, i dunno, lol! That's why most of my story arcs are around 15 pages only! I guess I write for myself in a way! Regardless, this page came out great!

Yeah, I'm picking up almost a feel of omnipotence from this dragon... hmmmm.... Very cool!

Im a fan of picking your moments and pushing the story forward at a solid pace. It took me a while to grasps this concept.

Going moment to moment might be ok if you're writing a novel, but in a comic its best to cherry pick your panels to get the most bang for your buck.

Pretty sure l read that in Scott McClouds 'Making Comics' - which has been a great help to me.

Ohh I love Scott McClouds books! making comics was my favorite I think! it gave me more reasons to love comics. and when people tell me I'm a nerd for liking comics I just say, "Do you think ancient Egyptians and cave men were nerds?! they were the original comic illustrators!" :D

One thing I learned: Portals are ALWAYS in a bad spot.
But wait, is this a dwarf running away from a itsy-bitsy spider? What? He's not an Elf!
I don't believe this story. Draginbeard is clearly lying.

Well, on any other day, Jolly would have squared his shoulders, taken a piece of paper to scoot under the spider carefully, taken it over to the window...where he keeps his pot still, and dumped the sucker in so his moonshine would have that extra kick to it!

But portals don't last long, and he was in a hurry to see where this one was going to dump him.

Bah... I was hoping for a whole page dedicated to my favorite game, "Bounce the Dwarf."

The list is pretty long since I was trying a lot of different games. I have it in mind to have a few flashback stories mostly using EQ, Asherons' Call. On the other hand, it wouldnt be far fetched for me to include Darkthrone, City of Heroes, WoW, and yes, even Eve. =P

I remember the Eve forums before the game launched, what a great community they had. I was posting as Dirtybones at the time and I was writing fanfic like an spastic for weeks at a time.

Man...I really got sucked into the games I was playing back then.

Also Mr. Grim Reaper there in the first panel is looking stylin in his green robe. The big moon is quite awesome too!

Hehe Spiders around there are car-sized, but probably tasty...since every vendor and quest giver in the area seems to be asking for legs, eyes, and silk.

Is Cizors pronounced the same as scissors?
Draginbeard 2nd Oct 2012, 11:20 PM edit delete reply
Draginbeard
The short answer; I pronounce it as 'Si Zors'

Cizors is actually a mix of a few things. I needed a word to make him as ominous as possible. I looked at his design and of course he has huge fangs, so the word 'Incisor' came to mind. Then I wanted him to be pretty important, part of a ruling class of Wyrm, and that brought to mind 'Caesar'. The last was basically another ruling title of Russia, 'Czar'. I liked them all and mashed them up. That's how I came up with Cizors.
