Ok, as much as l hate it, l struggled a little with the dialog and art in the next couple of pages. Experiments go that way sometimes. =\

Jolly attempts to reason with a fancy elemental spirit of this world. His father, like many of the more open-minded of the clan, seemed to take to these new spirits easily.

Of course some do not want change, and with Jolly, accepting a new set of gods went against the grain. In fact his resistance was such that Jolly doesn't even know their proper names.

Though a strong believer in the Maker, seeing his friends laying dead around him has shaken his faith. So much so that he is even willing to make a half-hearted attempt to contact the earth spirit. He doesn't expect anything to happen, which only convinces him further against betraying his true faith.

Scarlan World lore -

The elementals are said to be beings of great power, and are fragile allies among the fey. When the dwarves first came to the realm, a few sought out the natural spirits, and it was the earthen elementals that greeted them.

The clan artisans and singers worked hard to maintain a favorable balance with all the elementals. They are treated with respect (mostly) as part of a whole pantheon of minor gods.

Not all among the dwarves have embraced the spirits as openly. Many hold their faith in the Maker over any spirit. After all, wouldn't creatures such as fire, earth, and water be among the Makers many designs? One does not give more credit to a soup pot than the chef.

Proper respect, certainly, but worship is meant for the master at the great forge.

I like the way it turned out - you are seriously getting so much better :D , time for that extra page or 3 to explain the world! jolly needs a cute elf chick to help him out Tama is volenteering! ( heheh )

Thanks =) I am still messing around with effects, and lighting, and I went too heavy with this now that I look back on it.

I had an old boss that used to walk into work looking like one of those barbie heads girls used to practice putting make-up on.
If they did it in traffic.
On a road that was under construction. An unpaved road.
At high speed.
only she looked worse....this page reminds me of that.

It does gets better, but this and the next page are my 'speed bump' pages. =/

Im still kicking around ideas for my extra pages. I have a few in mind, but right now I have my hands full of other projects.

Tama is a cutie tho =)

Jolly wouldn't know what to do with a "cute elf chick." He needs "Beerroom Bertha" with 3 chins, who waddles like a duck, weight 450 lbs, a beard and moustach, OH and has a decanter of endless ale...

Oh come now, first time I logged into EQ some female human or half-elf player toon came up and handed Jolly a sword.

Of course I didn't know how to send your a private tell just yet, so when I typed in "Wow, look at her, I think I'm going to like it here!" The whole zone heard me.

I managed to get a good part of the spooky going, but over did it with the foggy misty stuff. At the time I thought it looked good, now I know to trim it back a little more.

You've got a good sense of irony going on with this page! The art is cool too. You can just feel the dread building up behind him and he's completely unaware... o_0 XD

Oh I know what this is!
That's a republican ghost!
He heard "communist stoner" and now he's looking for the dirty hippy!

Liberal Ghost - dare I say it? A free spirit, vs. a dug in Dwarf rockpublican.

A cage match only found on public cable stations!

The spooky spirit looks great! This page stands on its own with some funny irony. Jolly can provoke bad spirits that he can totally hit with stuff! Win-win situation here!
Draginbeard 10th Dec 2012, 11:32 AM edit delete reply
Hopefully he can hit is looking at him with no good will in its hollow eyes!

Draginbeard 11th Dec 2012, 11:05 PM edit delete reply
Well, we are talking to spirits after all...and he is a dwarf, so he thinks of spirits in terms of what he can drink!
Hythlodeus 11th Dec 2012, 3:27 PM edit delete reply
Rocky Wallbanger...
Hythlodeus 11th Dec 2012, 4:29 PM edit delete reply
Fantastic! I somehow wanted to make a legthy compliment about the names of your Dwarves, write a whole 20page paper about it and about the history of Dwarvish names in general...
and then all that was posted was 'Rocky Wallbanger'.
I have NO idea what happend here.
Anyway, to make this post way shorter than my first attempt: Great names, great stuff. Beardy Dwarves Rule!
Draginbeard 11th Dec 2012, 11:07 PM edit delete reply
Hehe Yes they do! I went with the names I could have the most fun with. My players tend to roll their eyes when I announce NPC names during play.

You have all been warned.
