The cave, where the smelling salt was conceived.

Happy birthday LooeyQ!!!!

It's memorial day weekend. I want to thank everyone who fought and died for our countries and our way of life. There are no words to express my sadness over the sacrifices these brave men and women have had to endure in the cause of freedom.

In happier news...

Phoenix comicon 2013 was fantastic! I had a blast over the weekend and I am still coming down off of a convention high.

If you want to hear more, check out the comic blog. I also have some expanded news about what I am doing for the next month.

In mixed news, my buffer is shot. I am now desperately trying to rebuild and keep up my updates.

We have been short staffed at work and I have had a lot of extra shifts thrown my way.

This has seriously strangled my ability to get enough work in on the comic.

All is not grim and dark however. I will still be updating, in fact I will be going back to twice a week with filler art from my earlier days. Jokes, and concept pages as well as my first test pages of Draginbeard!

I expect to be up and back on schedule by July. In fact as of now, I have 12 of the 20 pages left in the chapter penciled, and ready to be scanned in.

I know this has been a really long chapter, and nearly all of it inside a tiny cave, but things will be changing and I have a lot of stuff in store for Jolly as we wrap up the end of chapter two.

Jolly and company will return in July, not to intentionally spoiler anything, but yes, he will be getting out of that cave one way or another before the end. After all, there is still a big, bad, cruel world waiting!

Aww Thanks Man!!!! :D I feel honored to be a part of Draginbeard today!!! :D

By the way, Jolly's skin tones look awesome, they really pop out on this page. All the colors look great, but Jolly's face especially looks amazing, the skin tone mixed with the red tones. Loving it! Also, "poot" is the sound effect word my wife uses for my farts. In fact "Mr. Poots" is my nick name! So this page was secretly funny to me! ;D

Awesome! and thanks. I have been putting in a lot of extra time into my color work as I go. Its another thing that slows me down an awful lot.

I was laughing at your Mr. Poots story, my cat makes that very same noise, only its a cat food fart, and those are rough to be in a room with!

I hope you have a great birthday!

Hmm, gremlins do kinda look like rats... next time I spot a rat but don't get a clear look, I'll be worried!

The antagonistic vapors are now protagonistic!... wait, what?

I read your blog and like what you write about! I'd be interested to see what you say on social media! Also Phoenix comicon sounds like it was way better than my local comicon!

Build dat buffer and keep up the great work, man!

Thanks JR!

I sat on a panel for world building, which had Timothy Zahn, Terry Brooks, Michael Stackpole, Brandon Sanderson, and Peter Orullian answering questions.

There were some really good questions, and for the most part everyone stayed on topic, but there was one subject that got briefly touched upon, and that was the importance of Foreshadowing in your story.

Dragon breath is part of my Foreshadowing. The stuff in the cave is just the beginning. =)

Thats a handy ability! ; ) Nice page, glad the convention went well. Good luck with building the buffer, it's always nice to have a couple pages in the hopper

That buffer has lasted me almost a year, but with work grinding me down with extra shifts, it was too hard to keep up, and then with con, I just took the weekend off so I could totally geek out for a whole time.

Thanks =) I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. I have some pretty good pages still to come, hopefully I will be back on track in a few weeks.
